The Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Initiative (E-SII) is the focal point for entrepreneurship and innovation at Gettysburg College where ideas for both new social ventures and for-profit startups can be explored, cultivated, and developed. With the assistance of ESII, any student can hone and build upon their experiences, connections, and skills to give them the confidence to grow their ideas into ventures.
For decades, only 3 percent of advertising creative directors were women. Today, that number is still only 11 percent even though women control over 80 percent of all annual consumer spending. These facts help paint the picture of a problem: women are making decisions when it comes to buying products, but how to market those products is a decision made by mostly men.

The Entrepreneurial Advisory Council works closely with the Entrepreneurial Fellowship and is made up of members who are entrepreneurs or professionals holding high-level positions in dynamic industries. These advisors donate their time to mentor students and improve the quality of our entrepreneurial programs.
Through lectures, workshops, hands-on experiences, and curricular connections that transcend academic departments, E-SII helps students realize their entrepreneurial potential that they can use throughout their lives and their careers. Entrepreneurs need the skills we most often align with a liberal arts education: critical thinking, effective communication, and a global perspective. Our entrepreneurial competitions and curriculum reinforce these skills to create a campus culture that embraces entrepreneurial activities and social innovation, empowers students to leverage their liberal arts education, and encourages the pursuit of ideas that will have a positive impact on the world.
